When we decided to develop our reacha a few years ago, it was our declared goal to combine our passion for sport with our demand for ecological behaviour.
Simply put: we wanted a smart solution to bring our equipment to the beach, lake, river or mountain with as little footprint as possible.
Due to the modular (and downward compatible) design, the application possibilities of the reacha will continue to increase in the future with new components. We are constantly working on further developing the reacha and its accessories.
The tool-free assembly reduces barriers to use, and the adjustability in length and width allows the reacha to adapt to the everyday life of its users.
Through innovative solutions, such as the Bike Connector, the product remains variable and can be used by all everyone.
Part of our original idea was to give old and unused components a new life. Floko built our very first prototype in his hobby cellar from an old windsurf boom, leftover wooden slats, an old sail and front wheels from the recycling bin at the bike shop next door.
And so even today our reacha models can always be ordered as a d.i.y. version without wheels, to give old bicycle front wheels a new use again.
With our minimal design, we have succeeded in developing a high-quality, durable and versatile trailer using very little material. The use of CAD software (computer-aided design software), 3D printing and rapid prototyping has enabled us to optimise the use of materials in many iterations. This has enabled us to develop a high quality, durable and versatile trailer with reduced material usage.
85% of the reacha's components come from Europe. This keeps the carbon footprint in the transport sector low and gives us more influence on the environment and working conditions.
The heart of the reacha, the frame, is produced just around the corner from us in Upper Bavaria. The final assembly and shipping takes place in Gmund am Tegernsee. We have also decided to carbon neutrally ship with DHL Go Green to further minimise our carbon footprint
We are committed to sustainable packaging and are working on innovative solutions to reduce the overall amount. In 2022, we were able to reduce the amount of paper by around 30% by using cardboard boxes specially developed for reacha. We source the boxes around the corner from Bayerische Wellpappen GmbH in Lengries. This way we keep the delivery routes as short as possible and can send the reacha in cartons made of recycled paper.
In terms of plastic waste, we have succeeded in reducing it by 90% by, among other things, exchanging grid boxes with our frame manufacturer on a rotation principle, in which our components can be stored and transported without plastic packaging. In the meantime, we have also completely dispensed with plastic in our packaging. The reacha is packed exclusively in cardboard packaging and we use ecological adhesive tape made of paper and natural rubber.
In order to reduce the carbon footprint of our print products, we also changed printing companies in 2022 and now have all instructions, postcards and stickers produced by WIRmachenDRUCK GmbH. This means that we can now include instructions made from recycled FSC-certified paper. We compensate for unavoidable emissions during printing and shipping, and can thus offer climate-neutral print products. The reacha already consists in parts of recycled materials. For example, certain components are produced with carbon fibre-reinforced plastic that comes as waste from our German production.
Our goal is to use plastics and aluminium from recycled materials and recycled aluminium in the medium term. In the case of textiles, we are looking for solutions to use upcycled technical textiles.

Even though we are increasingly marketing our products abroad, our base and home base remains the region around Munich and south of it. This is where our development team, most of our suppliers, our partners and, most importantly, our customers, testers and users have been based from the very beginning.
